The 805 Chardonnay 2017 is the product of near-perfect vintage conditions – moderate temperature through the growing season and critical ripening phase, and average rainfall. The fruit was hand-harvested and gently whole bunch pressed, with the turbid juice pumped straight to barrel. Fermentation and subsequent malolactic fermentation was undertaken with indigenous microflora. The wine was matured on lees in a mix of French Alliers oak barrels before blending and bottling in mid 2018
Straw coloured with green hues. The nose is characterised by grapefruit, lemon curd and struck match aromas. The palate is beautifully integrated and complex, revealing more with time in the glass. Notes of lime, nectarine, flint and malt are carried on a seamlessly textured, creamy medium body. Persistent, long and precise with savoury phenolics and mineral refreshment.
